Chairman of GCTU and President of Soyuzmetall Trade Union Center discussed the promotion of decent work principles in CIS
On December 2 in Moscow, Viktor Pinsky, Secretary General of the General Confederation of Trade Unions, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and Asylbek Nuralin, President of the International Association of Trade Unions – Soyuzmetall Trade Union Center, Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, discussed socio-economic development in the CIS countries and strengthening of trade union cooperation. The meeting was attended by Nikolay Arsyutin, Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, member of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial Reform.
The participants of the meeting analyzed the current socio-economic agenda in the Commonwealth of Independent States and the development of relations between the countries. Special attention was paid to the role of trade unions in promoting the principles of decent work.
“Solidarity in promoting the principles of decent work is the main principle of trade unions in the CIS countries. Our joint efforts should be aimed at creating a reliable system which ensures fair wage, safe working conditions and broad social guarantees for all employees. Such an approach contributes to the sustainable development of our countries,” Viktor Pinsky believes.
The deputies also discussed the importance and practical benefits of the participation of trade union leaders in the work of national parliaments. Such a format allows for direct representation of the employees’ interests — trade union members — at the highest legislative level. This creates an effective mechanism for influencing the formation of labor legislation and socio-economic policy, ensuring that the voice of labor collectives is heard and taken into account when making decisions at the state level.
