    Viktor Pinsky, Russian State Duma member and Secretary-General of the General Confederation of Trade Unions (GCTU), stated that active longevity and quality of life for older workers are among the key priorities for the CIS countries. The statement was made following the 38th meeting of the Advisory Council on Labour, Employment, and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS Member States, held on October 30 in Tashkent. Viktor Pinsky noted that demographic changes require CIS countries to focus their efforts on ensuring decent working conditions and a comfortable life for older citizens.

  • Uzbek Authorities Aim to Reduce Poverty Levels

    According to UzDaily.uz, Uzbekistan plans to reduce its poverty rate to 4.5% by 2026. Since the beginning of 2025, the unemployment rate has fallen to 4.9% (compared to 5.5% last year), and 302,000 families have been lifted out of poverty. By the end of 2025, the overall poverty rate is expected to drop to 6% (down from 8.9% in 2024). In a number of districts, the number of low-income families has decreased by 4.5 times, and 1,435 mahallas have for the first time received the status of "poverty-free territories."
